The Camenker Report Revisited

It seems Conservative activist Brian Camenker isn't finished with Mitt Romney just yet. A couple of weeks ago we posted about the Report he released last month, and the Boston Globe is reporting this morning that Camenker plans on releasing a follow up later this week. In response to the first report, Romney issued a press release entitled "The Real Brian Camenker" that attacked the man as a "political gadfly." Some of Romney's online supporters thought that move was a mistake. Matt Lewis, the man who convinced Romney to hire a full-time blogger, criticized the press release saying:
If Camenker is so irrelevant, then why is Romney trying to take him down? Why not let someone else take down Camenker (heck, the AP is already doing the dirty work by calling him a gadfly)? Get a surrogate, for crying out loud, Gov. Romney, but don’t dirty your hands on this man.
Should Romney even acknowledge this follow-up? He was praised earlier this month by most for his "nimbleness" in response to a Youtube post that compiled clips from his 1994 Senate race, would a similarly nimble response to the coming report be in order or is Matt Lewis correct that a "surrogate" should handle these duties?

Nice to see Camenker and the Boston Globe working together. That's even better than should the Romney campaign have put the article out on Camenker?

It's the best thing you can do politically. Where else can anyone go to discredit someone with the sqeaky clean life that Romney's lived? Flip-Flopper? I doubt it. He's stomping that issue away, two more news cycles and it won't have much legs if any.

As for Camenker who's a liberal nutjob is sheeps clothing. He has his pet project which is to stomp out gays but other than that I don't see where he's a conservative. You either head him off early or wait until the MSM gets a hold of Camenker and legitimizes him which is going to happen sooner or later. Guaranteed you won't be seeing any clips of him on The Daily Show in any of the MSM's but with YouTube I could be wrong. He's becoming the Democrat machine's (MSM, Hollywood, and Academia's) ace in the hole and a very ineffective one at that.

This bilge about him making more toilet paper about Romney coming from the Globe speaks volumes for what I'm talking about.

Romney will come out on top. No question.

Camenker certainly isn't the most reputable fellow and I certainly hope this blows over as easily as you say it will so the upcoming campaign can focus on substantive issues instead of these distractions. I'm not so sure the MSM is really to blame for this one though (I guess it depends on how you define the MSM). One would expect policy shifts like Romney's to engender some resistance in conservative circles. Carmenker's last report made more waves among Republicans than it seemed to in the "liberal" press. I think it's the nature of political gossip.
