Will his endorsement lift Romney?
I'm more curious about what your analysis is than in giving my own. As yet, I am equivical about the effect, but I do think it is a nod towards Romney's repute with the party mainstream.

I think it can only help him in early on in places like Iowa... but it's not an endorsement that's going to have legs. Since I don't think most of the opposition to Romney is really based on immigration (and given the fact that no other candidate has a strong "enforcement" record on the issue), I think the effects, even in Iowa, will be pretty negligible.
