I find it telling that while they are discussing who the front runner might be (is it John McCain, is it?), the whole time Mitt Romney is prominently displayed as this icon on the left side of the screen. Anytime anyone else is spliced next to him, it's a picture of a severed head.
I think you're reading too much into it. Their stated topic for the day was Mitt and his CPAC win and in the course of discussing that they hit upon who exactly was the frontrunner. Since Mitt was their topic for the day, they left his picture up throughout the episode. The National Journal's Hotline is about the best political news outlet there is, I don't think they're secretly plugging favorites.
