I think that the tide is turning. Perhaps this was an overwhelmingly pro-Romney crowd, but I don't think that people are going to ultimately vote based on Romney's religion. Indeed, as the McLaughlin Group noted, talk of Romney's religion may turn into an asset. It reemphasizes his devoutness and adherence to values, an opportunity that neither McCain nor Giuliani will have.
Additionally, I am grateful that Romney did not have a "Maccaca" moment responding to the opposition.
